About
A small studio in India, making shirts for grown women.
Nitara started because shirt-shopping for adult Indian women is mostly a choice between bland office-wear and over-styled fashion. We wanted shirts that are calm, well-made, and a little bit yours.
Every shirt is hand-crafted in our studio. We work with artisans across shibori, ikat, block-printing, and weaving — each piece touched by hand more times than is efficient. We cut in small batches — never more than a few dozen of a single design — so the things you wear feel actually yours.
Then there's the twinning thing. Our customers kept buying the same shirt for their husbands, and asking us to size up the kids' versions. So we started making them on purpose. About half our drops now come with a men's twin.
If you'd like a tour of the studio, get in touch. If you'd rather just see the shirts, start here.
